CONCLUSION

Au terme de ce travail qui avait pour but d'évaluer les propriétés antihyperglycémiante et hypolipidémiante in vivo des fractions polysaccharidiques solubles de deux plantes médicinales camerounaises à savoir Chromolaena odorata et Harungana madagascariensis, il ressort que :

? Les fractions pectine et hydrosolubles à froid de C. odorata possèdent des propriétés antihyperglycémiantes tandis que celles de H. madagascariensis n'ont aucun effet sur la glycémie aux instants considérés. Les pectines de C. odorata se sont révélées les plus actives au test d'hyperglycémie;

? La fraction pectine de C. odorata à la dose de 100 et 200 mg/kg possède des propriétés hypolipidémiantes indépendamment de la dose ;

? Cette fraction possèderait également la faculté de bloquer la peroxydation lipidique et par conséquent de renforcer le système de défense in vivo.

? La fraction pectine de C. odorata serait impliquée dans l'activité antidiabétique de cette plante.

PERSPECTIVES

Ce travail, qui s'inscrit dans le cadre d'un programme visant à réduire l'apparition des maladies métaboliques et des maladies cardiovasculaires à l'aide des substances naturelles, nous permet d'envisager :

? De tester ces fractions sur les rats diabétiques et obèses avec un temps de traitement plus long afin de préciser le mécanisme d'action à l'échelle moléculaire et cellulaire ;

? D'effectuer une étude toxicologique sur ces fractions afin d'en déterminer la marge de sécurité d'utilisation et

? De standardiser la (les) fraction (s) active (s) afin d'en proposer aux populations locales.
